Voting absentee

All Registered Indiana voters are eligible to vote absentee-in-person at the county election board satellite office beginning 28 days before Election Day. Learn How Below

Absentee Voting Guideline:

  • 1/1/2026 is the first day a voter can file an absentee ballot application with a county election board

  • Submit an application online at Indianavoters.in.gov, print off an application located at Absentee Voting Information / Vanderburgh County, or request to be mailed one by calling 812-435-5123

  • All absentee-by-mail voters are required to provide identification. This identification can be an IN Driver License/IN ID Card Number, Unique Voter Registration Number, or the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number.

  • You can also submit a photocopy of your IN Driver's License/IN ID Card or any other ID that follows the Indiana Voter ID Law.

  • All applications must be received and approved by 11:59 p.m., Thursday, 23 April 2026

  • Vanderburgh County Election Office, P.O. Box 3343, Evansville, IN 47732-3343.

Absentee voting by mail is available for anyone meeting one of the requirements listed at Absentee Voting Information / Vanderburgh County

In order to vote absentee-by-traveling board, one of three things must apply:

  1. You are confined due to illness or injury, or you are taking care of someone who is confined.

  2. You have a disability and believe your polling place is not accessible

  3. You are physically unable to fill out the ballot and sign the affidavit without assistance.

In order to vote absentee by traveling board, your application must be received by the election office by 12:00 pm, May 5, 2026
